Fabulous Fabric Fun! 🧵😀

Kia ora, hello bloggers,

This task I am going to show you would definitely be one of my top tasks I have done in lockdown. I am blogging this a bit late but it took longer than I anticipated. This task was one of the Technology Tasks that were set on Friday and I finished it Tuesday evening! I am quite pleased with my final product and I am glad I took on the challenge!

The Technology Task I decided to do was Fabric Fun. I had to find a recycled material and sew something out of it. I hand-sewed a cushion, here are the materials/items I used:
Left over blind material ( for the cover ), my old pillow ( for the stuffing ), buttons ( for decorating ) thread, a needle and scissors.

It started out like the photo above and the final product was this:

Throughout this process I learnt two things. 1; How to sew a button onto fabric and 2; How to do the invisible stitch. My buttons are quite sturdy and the invisible stitch is nearly invisible!

I now have a homemade decoration for my couch in the lounge!

See ya later!

Yours sincerely,

Sophie :D

  1. Hi Sophie
What a wonderful idea. I think your cushion looks amazing. You have done a really nest job. The skills you have learnt are "life-skills." You never know when you might have to sew a button etc in the future. It's good that you can do it rather than pay someone else. Keep learning!

  2. Hey Sophie, what a cool cushion! Awesome idea using leftover blind material. I agree with Mr Tyson, sewing is such a great skill to have. It's so much easier to be able to sew buttons and fix hems by yourself. Do you think you will continue sewing? Keep up the great work. Caitlin :)

  3. I have done basic sewing for a while, but that cushion was probably the hardest thing I have ever sewn. I will definitely continue with it. Thanks for the comment!

  4. Wow Sophie, this is awesome! Did you share it with Miss Mayo? I loved being able to sit down and sew, although I find I don't have much time to do it. What other creations have you made? Mrs O

    1. Yes I did share it with Mrs Mayo. Last week I also did the food truck task which there is a post on below. This week I am doing the cake one which I am about to blog and the tech pizza one which is for dinner tonight. Thanks for the comment.
